COURSE OBJECTIVES

BREAST IMAGING, NOV. 5-9, 2012
This course is designed for the clinical radiologist who specializes in breast imaging, or who practices general diagnostic radiology including breast imaging. It is intended to provide an overview and update on clinically relevant topics in diagnostic imaging of the breast, including recent developments such as relevant changes in the new 5th edition of BI-RADS.
A practical approach will be emphasized, which will include interactive panel question and discussion sessions, small group workshops with case reviews, and three lectures focusing on breast MR interpretation and biopsy. This course satisfies the continuing medical education requirement for MQSA in breast imaging.

Earn SAM Credit An opportunity for completion of a Self-Assessment Module will be offered. Breast MRI is pending approval by the American Board of Radiology for 1 SAM credit and for meeting the criteria for self-assessment toward the purpose of fulfilling requirements in the ABR Maintenance of Certification Program. SAM credits are required for radiologists certified since 2002.

At the end of the general breast imaging sessions, the attendee should be able to:
1. Apply and utilize BI-RADS categories as appropriate;
2. Develop a skillful and practical approach to performing and interpreting mammography, breast US and breast MRI;
3. Anticipate and resolve potential medicolegal issues relevant to breast imaging.

OPTIONAL DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY, NOV. 5-6, 2012
Enrollment in Breast Imaging is required to take the D-M sessions, there is an additional registration fee.
This course will provide a concentrated overview of the current status of and recent clinical developments in full-field digital mammography for both breast imaging specialists and general radiologists. The application of digital mammographic techniques to breast cancer detection and diagnosis will be emphasized. The material covered in the course is designed to help radiologists build their digital mammography practices on a firm foundation of knowledge.

At the completion of the Digital Mammography sessions, the attendee should be able to:
1. Apply the current status of digital mammography and results of clinical trials using full-field digital mammography;
2. Describe practical approaches to the implementation of full-field digital mammography in a breast imaging practice;
3. Gain practice in analyzing and interpreting digital mammography cases.
